Irvine, et al.
v.
Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center
& University of Washington

King County Superior Court

Civil Case No. 23-2-24438-9
& No. 24-2-03365-3

Fred Hutch Data Breach Litigation

Stobaugh & Strong have brought actions against Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and the University of Washington after a data breach at Fred Hutch in November 2023 compromised the sensitive personal records of over 800,000 Fred Hutch and UW patients.  Patients received extortion threats from anonymous individuals claiming they had hacked Fred Hutch and stolen their data.  Fred Hutch and the UW began notifying potentially affected individuals of the data breach about two weeks later.  These actions seek relief on behalf of all affected patients.

Fred Hutch and UW removed the cases to federal court.  Plaintiffs Irvine and Twaddell have moved to remand the action back to King County Superior Court.  That Motion to Remand is pending in the federal district court.
